Through the NESCAFÉ Plan, we aim to improve the quantity and quality of their coffee yield in a sustainable and profitable way. Our partnership with Filipino coffee farmers reflects Nestlé's Creating Shared Value (CSV) business strategy, which benefits both the farmers and the company.
The NESCAFÉ Plan has several objectives
- Help farmers meet sustainability standards through Better Farming Practices, optimizing productivity while minimizing environmental impact.
- Minimize environmental footprint in all coffee product categories, such as soluble coffee and ready-to-drink beverages.
- Encourage consumers to adopt more sustainable preparation methods and promote the re-use of packaging.
- Invest in coffee research, factories, and employment opportunities, benefiting society as a whole.
- Ensure a consistent supply of high-quality green coffee beans for Nestlé to maintain the exceptional taste of NESCAFÉ products.
A long history of supporting local coffee farmers
We have been a strong partner of Filipino coffee farmers throughout the years, helping the rise and thrive over life’s challenges. NESCAFÉ Philippines support Filipino farmers through its agricultural programs.
Our Integrated Coffee Center, equipped with modern technology, train farmers in the latest coffee production techniques. We also prioritize transparent and fair coffee buying practices, making it easier for farmers to sell their produce.
Increase the yield and income of participating farmers
Under the NESCAFÉ Plan, we launched Project Coffee+ in Mindanao to increase the yield and income of participating farmers. Through partnerships with organizations like GIZ, we aim to transform farmers into agripreneurs and strengthen the coffee value chain.
Mindanao is a significant coffee producer, particularly in Sultan Kudarat and Bukidnon. Growing Robusta coffee in Mindanao has the potential to provide livelihood opportunities, especially for smallholder coffee growers in conflict-affected areas.
Empowering coffee farmers and promoting sustainability
Looking ahead, we have renewed our partnership with GIZ for Project Coffee+, focusing on regenerative agriculture farming practices to improve the economic and environmental resilience of smallholder coffee farmers.
